Chef Alexa Joan
of Eat Off Art
Late August and the sheer abundance from our garden harvests feels both lush and honestly, a bit overwhelming!
What do you do with all these veggies, right?!
Enjoy a feast-for-the-eyes, multi-course meal on the farm and experience all the delicious ways that vegetables can be the stars on your plate. Relax amongst the gardens, orchards and grounds surrounded by the sounds of farm life (our chickens, ducks, geese and sheep.)
With a passion for education combined with her skills in the kitchen, Chef Alexa Joan sparks a whole new love for vegetable-forward meals.
Chef Alexa is a master at elevating simple ingredients into delicious, beautiful meals. At this dinner, she brings her gifts and passion for food together with Crown Hill Heirloom produce to create this multi-course feast for your pleasure! She got early inspiration cooking in Positano, Italy at a family-owned restaurant where she learned how to highlight the natural flavors of ingredients, featuring local fish and produce.
Sit down to a physically distant, (yet socially fun) meal prepared by Chef Alexa Joan, who brings us her educational and tasty journey through the vegetables of the garden and the pleasure of eating a meal straight from the farm. (detailed menu available closer to the event)In order to work with what is at its best, the full menu will not be finalized until soon before the dinner.)
Be greeted to Crown Hill Farm by Missy Singer DuMars with a tour of the farm and discussion of what is in season. Learn about the unique vegetable varieties we grow - chosen for flavor, color, joy & regional adaptability. Hear a bit of the rich history of Crown Hill Farm, from its farmhouse to its multiple owners as varied as what the gardens now grow!
Then, sit amongst the fullness of the apple orchard, gardens, surrounding hay field & vineyard with a view of Lake Erie on the horizon. Take in the beauty of the early evening light as Chef Alexa Joan tantalizes you with what she create in addition to hand-selected wine pairings she’s chosen for the evening’s meal.
