Creativity in the Kitchen: World Flavors in Your Pantry! (VIRTUAL)

I've always been an avid cook and lover of foods since helping my grandmother cook for the holidays.  In the past few years, living on my farm where I grow interesting and unique heirloom vegetables, my ability to get creative in the kitchen has increased with the need to cook what is in season at any given time.

In this time of shelter-in-place I've found that more folks are returning to the hearth of their home -- the kitchen-- to cook more meals for themselves and their families.  This includes a return to making foods from scratch rather than rely on manufactured bottles, boxes, cans and bags that may not always be available.  As a farmer, I of course, celebrate the desire to depend on local ingredients for freshly made food!

Often a look in the pantry at what's available leads to the question: ""What do I do with what I have here?""  I have found that knowing some basics about world flavor combinations can turn almost anything into a delicious meal from any part of the world.  In this Creative Session, I'll share a little bit about flavors and together we'll get into making a simple salad dressing with what you have already at home: oils, acids (like citrus or vinegars), & seasonings.  You don't need any special ingredients beyond that and together we'll get creative right in your own kitchen!"
