Women in Food of WNY presents:
Culinary Garden Class with Emily Theresa
Growing & Using Edible Flowers & Herbs
Join me (Missy) as your hostess for this next episode of Women in Food of WNY. In this Free Class with Emily Theresa, Owner & Founder at the Station Bistro in West Valley and Owner/Baker/Creator at Lucky Day Homestead. She’ll be sharing with us all about Edible Flowers and Herbs - what to use, and how to use them.
If you didn’t know, there is a wide range of flowers that don’t just beautify your dish but can add different kinds of flavor to whatever you are cooking. Emily Theresa will take us on a stroll through her gardens to look at what edible flowers are available, how to pick and then different ways to use them. I imagine we’ll also talk garden herbs as the two go hand in hand. As a woman who grows, bakes, prepares and serves food to her customers, we’ll get to tap in to her wealth of knowledge, much of which comes through generations in her family.
Whether you are an expert gardener or chef, a hobbyist or just starting out with exploring the world of edible beauty,, I’m sure you’ll learn a TON and be jumping out of your seat to go explore your flower beds with a new perspective! In addition to learning with us during this live, play-along, how-to adventure in the garden with Emily, you will get any info or handouts she may have so you can continue to access a handy reference.

About the Women in Food of WNY series: Being a solo Woman Farmer and Woman Entrepreneur I have always kept my eye out for fellow women in business with whom to connect (and commiserate). As i’ve established myself in the WNY area, I have loved meeting new chefs and farmers alike. However, one thing that I noticed was a serious lack in attention towards women Chefs and Farmers of the region, despite the fact that there are many of us. Here at Crown Hill Farm, we love to host Farm-to-Table dinners featuring local chefs preparing seasonal foods. From there, I saw a vision: A series of dinners highlighting the women chefs of WNY. Now, in 2020 with COVID keeping us all away from social gatherings in person, I had to get creative while hanging on to this vision of featuring women in food in WNY. And so, after many conversations with incredible women, this series was born! This is the first step to what I hope will be a Conference of WNY Women in Food. For now, let’s gather around our respective kitchens to chat, cook and learn together.
