About Chef Diego Castillo: Diego is a cook from Colombia who believes in food that is whole, healthy and made from scratch. He’s been interested in cooking professionally for much of his life, despite his foray into the Colombian art scene. As a young boy he made and sold chocolates in his high-rise building; as a young man, he started a delivery-only sourdough bakery in Bogotá. When he arrived to Buffalo a decade ago, he jumped into the local food scene with one of the region’s first food trucks, the Whole Hog. He has since worked in kitchens across the city and the country.

Returning to Buffalo and his entrepreneurial tendencies, last year Diego launched Breva Kitchen with his wife, Anna. Calling upon his Spanish-Colombian roots and embracing the seasonality and local ingredients of Western New York, Diego is interested in cooking food that is accessible by exploring the flavors and traditions of recipes made to feed the masses. Breva Kitchen specializes in community-forward pop ups, catering and personal chef services. We aim to nourish bodies and minds while creating meaningful moments over a shared table. And we believe that food that feels good fuels good work.
